Opera, art and a Ferrari

A Ferrari 430 Badge (in case you were wondering)

Spring is definitely with us, and so an opera company’s thoughts turn to  – photo shoots!

Next week, we’ll be disporting ourselves across a Ferrari (well, someone has to) to promote our appearance at the Summer Art Exhibition at Project Workshops in Hampshire. Let’s hope the sun shines on the righteous – and us as well…

What do you think of Hatstand Opera so far?

Rather than us keep telling you what a great show “Vocal Vices” is, or indeed what fun a Hatstand Opera show can be, we thought we’d let our audiences do the talking instead! Here’s a short Hatstand Opera video (OK, slide show with audio) of what the good folk of Chatteris said earlier this month about our performance of the Hatstand Opera show, “Lights, Camera…Action!”

Suit You, Sir!

Nice threads, boys....

Nice threads, boys....

Several people have commented on the natty new suits our gentlemen singers are wearing in the Vocal Vices publicity shots. We love them too!

They are genuine American Zoot suits, bought from an Italian suit company based in Harlem, New York. Finding them involved hours of research on the web, careful measurement of our tenor’s shoulder width to check he would fit into his jacket, and equally careful colour choices to ensure all the chaps looked great!

One thing we had not quite bargained on was the level of import duty and taxes we would need to pay, to get the suits into the UK. By the time we’d paid all the monies due and the postage, the price had almost doubled, but hey, who cares. Only the best for our boys…

Remember, if you’re interested in raising cash for your favourite charity with a summer performance of Vocal Vices, get your hands on our Charity Fundraising Outdoor Opera Guide – it’s free!
