Vocal Vices: Rehearsals and Try-Outs

Rehearsing hard for "Busy Doin' Nothing"...

Rehearsing hard for "Busy Doin' Nothing"...

Rehearsals start next week for Vocal Vices, even though the first public performance isn’t until the end of March.

That’s because we’ve a couple of ‘try-out’ private performances before then. These lucky folk get to see parts of the new show before anyone else, so we can see if we’ve got it right!

Try-out performances throw up all sorts of interesting moments. For example, with “Lights, Camera…Action!’, we discovered that yes, the entire audience DID know “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” as they sang along with it – loudly! And that we had far too many props for our Fairy Godmother scene, and Kirsty couldn’t juggle a stuffed dog, a briefcase, a wand and fairy dust while singing complicated lyrics!

We’re looking forward to working out the nitty gritty of Vocal Vices, including the vocal challenges of singing like a wolf and how to padlock the baritone’s mouth shut with a baby’s dummy…

We’ll keep you posted – the meantime, catch up with new 2009 Hatstand Opera performances dates and book your Vocal Vices tickets now!
